Pre-Installation Subfloor Requirements
Before installing loose lay vinyl flooring, ensure your subfloor is clean and free of dirt, dust, debris, grease, and any loose particles. The surface should be smooth, without bumps, cracks, or ridges. Fill any holes or gaps to create an even surface. The subfloor should also be level, with no significant dips or high spots—typically within 3/16 inch over 10 feet. It should be sturdy, without any deflection or movement, and securely fastened. If installing over concrete, make sure the surface is sealed to prevent moisture transfer.
